Malaysia defeats United States in Group A playoff at Cairo International Stadium
On Tuesday, October 6, at the Cairo International Stadium, the leading seeds secured their spot in the last eight by defeating the United States 2-0 during their Group A playoff encounter. Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal and Low Zi Yu got Malaysia off to a strong start in the opening game with an 11-6 win over Noah Chien and Jasmine Yeung in the mixed doubles.
Next, Carine Tee overcame Micah Cruz with a score of 22-12, and Tiew Wei Jie subsequently widened the Malaysian lead by defeating Shriyans Bhagavtula 33-15.
Zi Yu returned alongside Genevie Lim in the girls’ doubles, comfortably beating Audrey Chang and Jasmine 44-21. Ahmad Redzuan and Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim then wrapped up the first game 55-26 against Noah and Rithik Rasamseti.

Second game performance secures quarter-final berth against Estonia
Malaysia remained in control in the second game. Irfan Shazmir and Genevie Lim beat Noah and Jasmine 11-6, while Carine Tee once again got past Micah Cruz, winning 22-14. Tiew Wei Jie followed up with a 33-27 win over Rithik Rasamseti. Genevie Lim and Low Zi Yu had to dig deep before edging Audrey Chang and Jasmine 44-41.
Damien Ling and Irfan Shazmir finished the job with a 55-46 victory over Noah and Rithik to send Malaysia through to the quarter-finals. Malaysia face Estonia on Wednesday, October 7, with a victory enough to guarantee them at least a bronze medal.
