Major League Baseball adjusted its postseason schedule for the League Championship Series while keeping the World Series end date fixed. Major League Baseball announced the updates, maintaining the original target for the final game of the Fall Classic.
Milwaukee Brewers Host Opening Series Game at American Family Field
The Senior Circuit starts first when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, Oct. 11, at American Family Field. That opening matchup sets the tone for the National League schedule.
Following the opener in Milwaukee, the series shifts locations. The teams travel to Los Angeles for Game 3 at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 14, with subsequent games scheduled for Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 if necessary.
If neither team sweeps the matchup, the National League series concludes on Monday, Oct. 19. That timeline keeps the senior circuit on track despite the mid-series travel day.
Tampa Bay Rays Open Junior Circuit at Tropicana Field
The Junior Circuit begins its League Championship Series on Monday, Oct. 12, with the Tampa Bay Rays awaiting their opponent at Tropicana Field. The American League opener follows the National League start by one day.
The first four games of the American League series run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16. The schedule includes a game on Tuesday, Oct. 13, matching the date the National League takes a travel day.
As the series progresses, the Rays visit either Chicago or Cleveland for Games 3 and 4 on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16. If a fifth game proves necessary, it takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Should the American League series extend past a sweep, it wraps up on Tuesday, Oct. 20. That finish aligns with the league’s goal of preserving the original World Series timeline.
League Championship Series Travel and Rest Day Matrix
The updated playoff structure requires careful coordination between travel days and venue changes. On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the American League plays its next matchup while the National League rests during travel.
The two championship series cross paths on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 as both leagues contest pivotal middle games.
