Madagascar N1A Basketball Championship: GNBC and MBC Top Standings Ahead of Quarter-Finals

GNBC Analamanga and MBC Atsinanana secured the top spots in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively as the classification phase of the N1A basketball championship concluded before the quarterfinals. The final rounds of the classification phase established the postseason seedings while also confirming the relegation of several clubs down to the N1B division ahead of the 2027 season.

GNBC Analamanga Leads Women's Division Standings

In the women’s competition, GNBC Analamanga finished at the summit of the table with 20 points after completing 10 matches. The squad registered nine victories against just one defeat, accumulating 762 points while allowing 401 for a dominant point differential of +361. M2BAL Analamanga followed in second position with 19 points on a matching 9-1 record, while JEA Vakinankaratra took third place with 18 points after going 8-2. BC Somava secured the fourth playoff spot with 17 points from seven wins and three losses. Further down the women’s standings, Ankaratra Vakinankaratra and ASSM Analamanga gathered 16 and 15 points respectively, followed by DUNAMIS Analamanga with 14 points and JCBA Analamanga with 13. ASCUT Atsinanana rounded out the qualified group in ninth position with 12 points.

On the men’s side, MBC Atsinanana claimed first place with 22 points following an 11-match schedule. RBC Boeny finished second with 20 points on a 9-2 record, edging out third-place GNBC Analamanga—who also finished on 20 points but held a slightly negative point differential of -4. COSPN Analamanga grabbed the fourth spot with 19 points, ahead of fifth-place ASCUT Atsinanana with 17 points. BC Somava Sava and Cosfa Analamanga recorded 17 and 16 points respectively, while BCB Boeny placed eighth with 16 points and ASCUM Boeny took ninth with 15 points.

Relegations Confirmed for 2027 Season

The conclusion of the classification fixtures also determined which clubs drop out of the top flight. In the women’s category, EBF Haute Matsiatra, VARSITY Anosy, and Fandrasa Haute Matsiatra were relegated to the N1B category for 2027. Fandrasa and EBF Haute Matsiatra both finished their campaigns with identical 1-9 records, while VARSITY Anosy endured a winless run of ten defeats. Among the men’s teams, ASSM Analamanga, Fandrasa Haute Matsiatra, and SBC Vakinankaratra received relegation drops. The men’s Fandrasa squad managed only a single victory from 11 matches, while ASSM Analamanga picked up four wins. SBC Vakinankaratra finished at the bottom without a win across 11 encounters.

Quarterfinal Rounds Determine Madagascar Basketball Champions

With the regular standings finalized, the remaining contenders advance immediately into the quarterfinal rounds scheduled for today. Teams surviving this phase will progress to the semifinals and ultimately the championship finals, where the new N1A monarchs of Madagascar basketball will be crowned.
