Ludovit Reis revives career at Werder Bremen after Club Brugge departure

Ludovit Reis has revived his career in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen following a difficult spell at Club Brugge that saw his contract terminated after just 506 minutes of play across 12 matches, according to recent sporting reports.

From Brugge Departure to Bremen Revival

Club Brugge acquired the Dutch midfielder for six million euros from Hamburg, where he had guided the club toward the Bundesliga. Transfermarkt valued his market value at seven million euros at the time of the transfer. The acquisition was intended to reinforce the Belgian club’s midfield and anticipate a potential departure of Raphael Onyedika, who ultimately stayed with the team. Reis struggled to adapt to the high physical intensity demanded in Bruges, suffered a shoulder injury, and faced heavy competition that kept him on the sidelines.

Reis Finds More Playing Time at Werder Bremen

Club Brugge directors decided to terminate Reis’s contract last summer, writing off the initial six million euro investment while clearing his wages. The former Barcelona B player subsequently joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on a free transfer. In Germany, Reis has already accumulated 672 minutes of playing time across eight matches, surpassing his total playing time from his entire previous season in Belgium.

Offensive Impact Against Borussia Dortmund and Mainz

Reis has contributed three goals for Werder Bremen across all competitions, including a cup goal against LSK Hansa and two strikes in the Bundesliga. His first league goal came on October 9 against Borussia Dortmund, cutting a 2-0 deficit to 2-1 before teammate Niclas Füllkrug added an equalizer. Füllkrug and Reis combined again in a subsequent league victory against Mainz, where Füllkrug scored the first two goals and Reis secured the win with the third.

Olivier Deman’s Injury Setback

Fellow Werder Bremen player Olivier Deman also featured in the starting lineup for the victory against Mainz. The former Belgian international played the first half at left-back before remaining in the dressing room after halftime due to an injury.
