Martxel Eizaguirre Claims Gold at Santander Super Cup
More than 700 judokas from across Spain traveled to Santander for the Spanish Cadet Super Cup, where Judo Klub Lizardi-Zarautz entered three athletes. In the women’s under-57kg category, Irati Aramendi exited in her first match against an opponent from Aragon and missed out on the repechage when her opponent failed to advance. Her clubmate in the same weight class won two matches before losing her third encounter to fall out of medal contention.
The club’s standout performance came from Martxel Eizaguirre in the men’s under-90kg category. Eizaguirre won all five of his bouts, capturing the final by ippon. His victory sequence featured two wins via standing techniques and three through groundwork. The result adds crucial points to the national cadet ranking and bolsters his bid to qualify for the Spanish Championship.
