Une enquête est en cours à Liège concernant des tirs de plombs sur des jeunes à proximité de la Foire de Liège, a confirmé le parquet. Authorities confirmed that an inquiry has been opened to determine who fired the shots during confrontations that left two minors injured on the boulevard d’Avroy.
Protests And Barricades At The Foire de Liège
Student demonstrations passed by or through the Foire de Liège several times over recent days, escalating tensions with carnival workers. On Wednesday, a heated altercation broke out involving dozens of forains who had barricaded the entrance to the fairgrounds. The Front AntiFasciste Liège alleged that adults armed with iron bars, baseball bats, and tear gas engaged in violent acts, distributing video footage to support the claims. Reports quickly surfaced suggesting the use of pellet rifles during the clashes.
Injuries Confirmed On Boulevard d’Avroy
Those allegations gained traction when municipal councillor Pierre Eyben (Vert Ardent) shared the account of a 17-year-old student’s mother. The youth was struck in the skull by a lead pellet on Thursday afternoon near number 188 on the boulevard d’Avroy while his mother stood nearby. A second student, aged 14, suffered a hand injury in the same vicinity. Councillor Eyben stated that formal complaints would be filed with authorities regarding the incidents.

Prosecutor Investigates Unprovoked Gunfire at Carnival
Contacted by La Meuse, the Liège public prosecutor’s office confirmed that an active investigation is underway to track down those responsible for the gunfire. Initial findings from the inquiry suggest the shootings bore no relation to the political context of the student protests, appearing instead to be unprovoked acts. However, evidence indicates the carnival workers were determined to demonstrate force to protect their rides from potential vandalism. Prior to the clashes, an official Facebook page for the fair assured the public that operators were managing security independently and visitors faced no danger, though that post was subsequently removed Thursday afternoon.
