Leini celebrated its local sports community on Sunday, Sept. 27, when the town center hosted an edition of “Sport in piazza,” Giornale La Voce reported. The annual event brought local sports associations into via Carlo Alberto, piazza Ricciolio, and piazza Vittorio Emanuele to showcase activities, courses, and opportunities for children, teenagers, and adults.
Municipality Honors Leini Athletic Achievers
Throughout the day, athletic associations engaged with residents across the three main thoroughfares. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the stage in front of the Pavarotti Theater for the official recognition ceremony honoring Leini’s top athletic achievers.
The municipality honored athletes and teams that secured regional, national, or international titles during the previous competitive season. Awards also went to competitors who reached podium finishes in major competitions or earned call-ups to regional and national representative squads.
Rollerspating, Swimming, and Martial Arts Honorees
In swimming, Nektongroup representatives Margherita Bottero, Viktoria Burzio, Diletta Calabrese, Luca Gallimbeni, Roberto Gallimbeni, Sofia Giordana, Flora Grbac, Ilaria Picco, and Emilia Sampietro Conte received awards.

Martial arts disciplines included recognition for Asd Taekwon-do Indomit Spirit competitors Federico Greco, Leonardo Greco, Antonio Loiacono, Tommaso Poggi, Fabiola Seidita, and Lorenzo Sola. Matteo Freda of Asd Penna Karate picked up an award for karate, while Christian Parisi of Asd Akiyama di Settimo Torinese was honored for judo.
Dance, Gymnastics, and Team Sports Recognition
Asd Progetto Danza collected numerous honors. Individual recipients Clarissa Goia and Matilde Graziadei joined honored groups including the advanced contemporary dance squad for ages 16 and older, the intermediate contemporary group for ages 13 to 15, the 15-year-old academic classical dance group, the preparatory classical dance B group for ages 8 to 10, the 10-to-12-year-old contemporary dance group, the hip hop teen group, and the modern kids group for ages 7 to 9. Instructors Francesca Pitta and Cecilia Rosso Chioso were also recognized alongside the classical, contemporary, and hip hop training schools.

Additional individual and team honorees included Sonia Bianco of Asd Bocciofila Borgarese in bocce, Melissa Vasciavea of Asd Eurogymnica in rhythmic gymnastics, the Freesty crew senior from La Palestra, Asd Oratorio Leini in 11-a-side football, Fabio Cherchi of Asd Basket Leini, Davide Cannone of Asd Pro Eureka in football, Alex Converso of VII Rugby Torino in rugby, Federico Bossetto of Vo2 Nuoto Torino in swimming, Giada Pocusta of Asd Pgs San Maurizio in artistic gymnastics, and Sara Benedetto in pole sport.

Sports Councilor Andrea Gilestro thanked club executives, technical staff, volunteers, and families for their daily work sustaining grassroots sports and enabling local organizations to maintain their programs.
