Le Sarliac Baseball Softball Périgord sees surge in female participation

Le Sarliac Baseball Softball Périgord has registered an unprecedented surge in female participation for the 2026 season, prompting the creation of a dedicated recreational softball squad. Founded in 2024 in Sarliac-sur-l’Isle, the club has experienced a steady increase in licenses since its inception, with roughly 90 percent of its members discovering the sport for the first time.

The organization, whose teams compete under the name Angels, originated from the departure of players from the COPO in Périgueux due to infrastructure limitations. Co-founded by Jérôme Nouger—who also serves as the club coach and president of the Dordogne Baseball Softball Cricket Committee—the structure secured a ground following a warm reception from the Sarliac-sur-l’Isle municipality, though equipment expenses remain the club’s responsibility.

Surge in Female Participation and Training Schedules

The recent influx of female athletes has transformed the club’s operational rhythm. Due to high attendance and enthusiasm among the women, training sessions transitioned from a fortnightly schedule to a weekly format held every Monday from 19h00 to 20h30.

Additional training times accommodate other divisions within the club:

  • Seniors practice on Wednesdays from 19h15 to 21h15 and Fridays from 19h00 to 21h00.
  • Youth sections hold sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Baseball Expands Its Presence in the Dordogne Department

Baseball continues to establish its presence in the Dordogne department alongside two other clubs. As Sarliac Baseball Softball Périgord manages its expanding roster and equipment costs independently, training remains open across categories and genders, while coach Jérôme Nouger continues to field inquiries at 06.03.02.37.70.
