Lausanne-Sport CEO Vincent Steinmann backs coach Luka Eisner despite last place

Lausanne-Sport sits at the bottom of the Swiss Super League standings after ten matches, managing just six points and a single victory, La Télé reported. While the club competed on the European stage last season, the Vaudois side now faces a severe early-season test as the domestic campaign approaches its mid-autumn fixtures.

Vincent Steinmann Discusses the League Standings

Club general manager Vincent Steinmann addressed the team’s struggles during a recent television appearance on La Télé, rejecting the label of a full-scale crisis while acknowledging the gravity of the position.

Multiple Factors Drive the Difficulties

Attributing the team’s winless slide to multifactorial causes, Steinmann pointed to a promising start that featured three encouraging performances before the squad ran into persistent hurdles. Among the primary aggravations were a wave of injuries and key roster departures during the summer transfer window, according to La Télé.

Steinmann also defended the club’s financial framework, noting that with roughly 7,000 spectators per match and a budget placing the team inside the Super League’s top six, Lausanne-Sport relies on player trading to balance its ledger. “It is a reality for 80% of European clubs,” Steinmann noted regarding the necessity of player sales to cover operating costs.

Luka Eisner Retains Club Support

Despite the club sitting as the league’s bottom-placed side, Steinmann offered an unequivocal response regarding the future of head coach Luka Eisner. When asked if the manager’s position is in jeopardy, Steinmann answered directly: “Not at all. In no way.”
