FC Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal purchased a house for his mother, Sheila Ebana, allowing her to choose the location entirely as the player reflected on his upbringing in Rocafonda. At just 19 years old, the Spain international detailed his family’s past financial struggles during an interview on the Resonancia de Corazón podcast, as reported by Sport.
Childhood Realities in Rocafonda
Yamal described the stark contrast between his current professional success and his early living conditions. “I came from an apartment where the kitchen and the bedroom were in the same place,” he said, recalling the modest environment that shaped his youth.
The forward explained that his primary motivation for achieving financial stability was changing the lives of his relatives. “I bought a house for my mother where she chose it. I asked her in what area she wanted to live and I told her: ‘wherever you want,'” Yamal explained.
Family Stability and Educational Demands
Beyond providing a home for his mother, the Barcelona attacker noted that he has secured greater financial peace of mind for his father and grandmother. “I see my mother happy, I see that my brother can have the childhood I would have liked to have and that is what makes me happiest,” he stated.
Despite his early emergence in professional football, Ebana maintained strict boundaries regarding his upbringing. According to the reporting, she consistently insisted that he continue his education, threatening to bar him from playing football if his school performance slipped.

Mother as the Central Figure
Yamal reserved his strongest praise for the relative who guided him through his early years. “My mother has everything she wants,” he said. “For me, she is my queen, she is what I love the most. It is everything a child can ask for.”
