Lakeeta Vaccaro’s Abuse Allegations Put Tyreek Hill NFL Return Under Review

Just as a return to the Kansas City Chiefs appeared imminent, Tyreek Hill faces intense NFL Personal Conduct Policy scrutiny as his civil divorce trial in Florida brings domestic abuse allegations from his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro, under official review.

Tyreek Hill’s prospective path back to the NFL hit a major hurdle as his divorce trial began in Florida with detailed testimony concerning domestic abuse allegations. Just one day before court proceedings opened, reports surfaced indicating that the free-agent wide receiver could sign with a team soon, with a potential reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs drawing particular attention across the league.

The couple married in November 2023 after previously becoming engaged in 2021, breaking off the engagement and later reconciling. Their marriage ultimately lasted 18 months before Vaccaro filed for divorce in April 2025, one day after police responded to an alleged domestic dispute at their Sunny Isles Beach condominium.

She is seeking punitive and compensatory damages as part of the divorce proceedings, telling the jury that she had been trapped in a continuous cycle of abuse and questioning how she could escape.

Lakeeta Vaccaro Testifies in Florida Court

Vaccaro’s civil complaint alleges eight distinct instances of abuse during the couple’s relationship. According to her testimony, the friction began in January 2024 over a postnuptial agreement.

During that initial January 2024 incident, Vaccaro testified that Hill threatened divorce, attempted to pull her wedding ring off her finger, ripped a necklace from her neck, placed his hands around her neck, grabbed and twisted her breasts, and wrestled her onto a bed. She also testified about an episode in May 2024 when Hill allegedly kicked her out of their car while driving home from an event and threw her shoe out after her. In November 2024, she stated that Hill yelled at her and spat in her face after she failed to have a pregame outfit ready for him.

Among the most serious accusations detailed in court was an encounter in July 2024. Vaccaro testified that during a visit to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, an argument led Hill to strike out at her.

Vaccaro testified that she instinctively placed her hands over her stomach to protect her unborn child when Hill attempted to punch her in the stomach.

Legal Defense Fights Back in Court

Attorney Christi Bright argued that although law enforcement responded to multiple disputes involving the couple during their marriage, no evidence led to Hill’s arrest. Hill does not face any criminal charges related to the claims.

Defense attorneys also pointed to the timing of the accusations, noting that Vaccaro’s initial divorce petition did not contain domestic violence claims and that the allegations only appeared in an amended filing later in the legal process. Hill’s team has characterized the lawsuit as a smear campaign and a shakedown, arguing through counsel that medical and police records found no signs of abuse.

Court proceedings included scrutiny over recordings of interactions between the couple, including nanny-cam footage. While Vaccaro’s legal team played video clips to corroborate her account, Hill’s defense maintained that while the language captured on tape was inappropriate, it did not demonstrate domestic violence. Hill also sought to block certain phone call recordings made by his mother-in-law, Alesia Vaccaro, citing Florida’s communication laws regarding intercepted communications without consent.

NFL Reviews Conduct Policy for Free Agent

NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy confirmed to ESPN that Vaccaro’s allegations remain under review under the Personal Conduct Policy.

With Kansas City facing injuries to wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, analysts and insiders had pointed to a potential reunion with the Chiefs. However, league officials are monitoring the courtroom developments closely.

Legal arguments in the Miami courtroom are scheduled to continue as both sides present further evidence to the jury.
