“We are weakened by the reforms,” club president Philippe Dormont said regarding shifting certification rules from archery authorities.
La Flèche bragarde, a multi-sports club, maintains stable finances, positive team morale, and an active slate of projects heading toward the 2026–2027 season, according to an annual general meeting held Saturday, Oct. 3, at the UJB premises in front of about a dozen attendees, local reporting by JHM showed.
Membership Grows as Club Earns Inclusive Designation
The multisports association recorded 47 total members during the previous season, fueled by a partnership with the Mecs de Wassy. Club leadership noted that financial health remains sound, allowing the organization to maintain steady operations while expanding its offerings. Alongside the membership growth, several club officers completed training concerning sexist and sexual violence. The organization also earned the “Inclusive Club” designation, receiving a special nod from the Handiguide des sports.
Equipment Upgrades and Upcoming Projects
President Philippe Dormont outlined several acquisitions and equipment initiatives currently underway for the organization. Plans include manufacturing specialized stands for para-archery, acquiring a 3D scanner and a laser engraver, producing club merchandise, and supporting volunteers participating in civic service programs. The club also aims to launch promotional communication efforts, organize new sports competitions and gatherings, and enroll incoming volunteers in credentialed training courses. The association also intends to revive its blowpipe target shooting activity.
Certification Changes Create Need for New Referees
Despite the positive operational outlook, leadership pointed to administrative hurdles impacting long-term stability. Dormont expressed concern over changes implemented by the French Archery Federation regarding diplômes. To secure the association’s future, leadership stated that new individuals must step forward to handle supervision and refereeing duties. Specifically, the club requires a second certified referee and a newly graduated coach to ensure safe and compliant operations.
Indoor Competitions and Fall Schedule
On the competitive calendar, La Flèche bragarde scheduled an Halloween-themed shoot for Oct. 31, followed by an indoor target competition set for Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. These events serve as early competitive fixtures for local members following the October general meeting.
