Students from Eklavya Model Residential School Nichar in Kinnaur secured multiple medals and overall team trophies at the third state-level sports competition held in Killar, Chamba, between September 28 and 30, according to local reports.
Athletic Dominance and Trophy Wins in Chamba
Athletes representing Eklavya schools across Himachal Pradesh traveled to Chamba-Killar for the three-day tournament. Under-14 female competitors claimed the overall athletics championship trophy, setting a strong pace for the delegation. In the under-19 track and field events, Kinnaur students collected eight gold, one silver, and eleven bronze medals. Ishita led the middle-distance squad by winning the 1,500-meter run, while Aman captured first place in the 100-meter dash and Avni claimed gold in the 200-meter event.
Relay squads also delivered top finishes on the track. The under-14 girls’ relay team—composed of Avni, Radhya, Soumya, and Shreya—won gold. The boys’ relay lineup featuring Padmakar, Harshit, Bhupesh, and Adhiraj matched that performance with a gold medal of their own. Field events added to the medal count as students secured top podium finishes in shot put, discus throw, long jump, and high jump.
Kinnaur Athletes Win Titles in Volleyball, Kabaddi and Table Tennis
Beyond individual track and field events, Kinnaur athletes excelled in team disciplines and racquet sports. Under-19 girls’ squads secured first-place finishes in both volleyball and kabaddi. The boys’ kabaddi team and the girls’ kho-kho team each earned runner-up honors, taking second place in their respective brackets.
Table tennis competition brought further success for the school. Under-19 students swept the singles and doubles brackets, claiming first place in both the male and female divisions. The under-14 boys’ table tennis squad added a second-place finish to complete a strong showing across the racquet events.
Principal Geetanjali Bhushan congratulated the medalists and participants following the conclusion of the events in Killar, extending best wishes to the student-athletes as they prepare for upcoming national-level competitions.
