Junior Firpo is sidelined for three weeks with a left adductor injury

Real Betis defender Junior Firpo has been diagnosed with a left adductor muscle injury that will sideline him for approximately three weeks following international duty with the Dominican Republic, according to an official medical report published by the club.

Left Adductor Strain Forces Defender to Miss Five Matches

Club medical staff examined the player in Seville after he traveled back ahead of his national team’s final match against Nicaragua. Official diagnostics confirmed a strain in the left adductor muscle. The club stated that his eventual return to full group training will depend entirely on his day-to-day rehabilitation progress.

The estimated three-week recovery window means the defender will miss at least five upcoming fixtures across domestic and European competitions. Real Betis faces matches against Osasuna, Porto, Barcelona, Feyenoord, and Celta Vigo. His availability remains uncertain for subsequent fixtures against Navalcarnero in the Copa del Rey on Oct. 28 and Málaga on Oct. 31.

Player Criticizes International Calendar After Heavy Workload

The injury stems from a demanding international window in which the left-back accumulated heavy minutes for the Dominican Republic national team. He played 78 minutes against Nicaragua on Friday, Oct. 25, followed by 81 minutes three days later against Trinidad and Tobago. Despite carrying lingering discomfort, he started against Haiti on Friday, Oct. 2, before signaling for a substitution just ten minutes into the match.

Speaking after that fixture, the player questioned the structure of the revised international calendar. The truth is I was carrying discomfort from the match against Trinidad and Tobago and I felt a slightly stronger stretch than normal, and now we wait for tests to see when I return to the club, since they already called and want to check what is there, he stated. He added: Sure, I didn’t understand very well why they changed the break. Before, we played two matches in ten days, and that was better than doing four in eleven. They will know why.

Pellegrini Manages Congested Schedule Without Primary Left-Back

Head coach Manuel Pellegrini must manage a congested fixture period without his primary left-back option. Real Betis enters a demanding stretch featuring nine matches in 28 days leading up to the next international break, competing across LaLiga EA Sports, the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey. Alternative options for the left-back position include Fran García and Valentín, though both players were away on international duty with their respective national teams during the episode.
