Traveling nearly 12 hours by land from the Maule Region, Club Deportivo Judo Trueno secured an unprecedented presence as the sole representative from its region at the Campeonato Nacional de Judo Vicuña 2026. The competition took place from October 23 to October 25 in the Coquimbo Region.
Securing National Finals Spots for Maule
The squad brought together athletes from Cauquenes, Curicó, Gualleco, and Talca. The standout achievement of the weekend came as two judokas punched their tickets to the 2026 National Final scheduled for December. Consuelo Parra earned a double qualification in both the Under-18 and Under-21 divisions, while teammate Arturo Salazar booked his place in the Under-15 bracket.
Podium Finishes and Standout Bouts
Beyond the direct qualifications, the Maule delegation collected multiple medals across different age groups. In the Under-15 category, Rocío Venegas claimed second place for a silver medal, and Agustín Villanueva finished third for bronze. Consuelo Parra added a bronze in the Under-18 division and captured silver in the Under-21 tournament. In the adult novice class, Benjamín Dip took home the gold medal, while Consuelo Parra rounded out her busy weekend with a third-place bronze finish.
Club leadership also highlighted the competitive efforts of Benjamín Dip, Alexis Azócar, and Pablo Torres (Under-18 and 21) alongside Arturo Salazar in the Under-15 division. Each advanced through preliminary rounds before falling in the semifinals and bronze-medal matches.
Directives and Club Leadership Acknowledged
Reflecting on the milestone journey, club representatives emphasized the magnitude of the undertaking. It is a pride as a club that our delegation is present with the largest number of competitors in an unprecedented way and as the only club from the Maule region. Beyond the results, it is an incredible and unique experience,
the directive stated.
The organization credited the weekend’s success to the hard work of Sensei and Technical Director Godoltier Valenzuela, Senpai Roberto Jara, and club president Nicol Roco Castro, alongside the families who support the deportistas to be present in each championship.
