Two judokas from the school have secured their places at the national showcase while regional testing yields new coaches and rank promotions on the tatami, Unica Radio reported.
Tatami success brings national qualification for Pirri judokas
Giulia Pisu and Nicolò Diana earned first-place finishes in their respective categories during regional competition, securing direct entry into the Italian Absolute A2 Judo Championship. The national tournament is scheduled for November 8 at Lido di Ostia, where the pair will face competitors from across Italy.
The qualification rewards rigorous preparation within the gym, according to club leaders. For Judo Hobby Sport, sending two representatives to the tricolor appointment is a first for the Pirri-based school.
Regional exams in Ruinas expand technical staff and Dan ranks
The competitive breakthroughs followed regional examinations organized by the FIJLKAM Sardinia Regional Committee’s Judo sector. The testing session took place in the municipal gym of Ruinas and involved 42 candidates, including athletes and coaches.

The examination board was chaired by Master Claudio Camba, who serves as technical director of the Pirri company and president of the FIJLKAM Sardinia Judo sector. The evaluations resulted in 11 new Basic Coach qualifications and 31 Dan rank promotions.
Giulia Pisu and Alessio Mulleri passed the examinations to join the Pirri technical staff as Basic Coaches. Meanwhile, Luigi Mundula and Gabriele Meloni earned their 1st Dan black belt degrees after clearing kata, projection, and control tests. Technical growth also marked the higher grades, as Roberto Rais and Matteo Camba successfully tested for their 3rd Dan ranks.
Generation Z coaches step up as Sardinia invests in youth
Master Camba expressed satisfaction with the overall results, emphasizing the commitment shown by all 42 candidates. He noted that about 80% of the newly qualified Basic Coaches belong to Generation Z, a demographic shift that highlights youth involvement in the sport’s future.
Candidates completed a preparatory course focusing on pedagogy, training methodology, and technical fundamentals before facing the regional commission. The curriculum aims to strengthen teaching quality and safety standards across Sardinian gyms.
Camba also reflected on the broader educational value of the discipline, noting that athletes must treat defeats as opportunities for growth. With fresh coaching talent and two athletes advancing to the national A2 championship on November 8, the club enters its next competitive phase with an expanded roster and renewed technical depth.
