Judo Club Capdenacois Hosts Charity Taïso Class for Pink October

For the second year, Judo Club Capdenacois is hosting a special charity Taïso session in Capdenac-Gare to raise funds for breast cancer research during the annual Pink October campaign, according to local media reports.

Charity Session Details at the Municipal Dojo

The open-access martial arts fitness event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, running from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time (0900 to 1000 UTC) at the municipal dojo in Capdenac-Gare. Participation relies entirely on a free-will donation model, with all proceeds donated directly to breast cancer research initiatives. Organizers encourage all attendees to wear pink athletic attire if possible to match the nationwide awareness campaign.

Understanding the Taïso Discipline

While the charity event highlights a vital health cause, it also introduces newcomers to Taïso—a traditional martial arts discipline whose name translates directly to “body preparation.” Originally developed as conditioning and warmup routines for judoka ahead of sparring and technical training, Taïso has evolved into a standalone fitness activity. It requires no prior experience in martial arts or combat sports, making it accessible to participants of all athletic backgrounds.

Coaching Insights and Workout Structure

Isabelle Meyniel has coached the Taïso sessions at Judo Club Capdenacois since 2019. “We are going to work on muscle strengthening, cardio, balance, flexibility, but also breathing and mindset. Everyone goes at their own pace!” Meyniel explained in published reports. Accompanied by background music, the routine alternates between standing and floor exercises, core conditioning, balance drills, stretching movements, and breathing exercises.

Weekly Classes and Community Growth

Beyond the special Pink October fundraiser, the club hosts regular adult Taïso classes every Friday evening at the dojo. The weekly time slot currently draws a regular group of roughly 20 participants, steadily bringing in new members across successive seasons. “It’s a playful alternative to many fitness sports such as gym or step,” Meyniel noted, emphasizing the welcoming and social atmosphere of the weekly gatherings.
