Juan Carlos Ferrero plans to return to tennis coaching in 2027

Juan Carlos Ferrero is planning to return to the professional tennis circuit for the 2027 season, stepping back into coaching after a period of personal reflection following his split from Carlos Alcaraz. The 46-year-old former world number one has spent recent months enjoying time at home with his family and working at his academy in Villena, while also releasing a book titled Mentalidad ganadora through Ediciones Península.

Return to Coaching and Future Plans

While he does not have anything finalized with any player yet, he indicated a preference for a different dynamic compared to his previous developmental work.

Because his tenure with Alcaraz required immense daily investment to shape a very young player, Ferrero explained that he would now prefer someone more established. Ahora me decantaría por un jugador que estuviera un poco más hecho, jugadores que ya están más formados y que no requieran que estés cada día al 200%, he stated in an interview with Punto de Break.

Reflections on Alcaraz and Career Milestones

Reflecting on his time guiding Alcaraz from the age of 15, Ferrero expressed deep satisfaction with the effort he and his team poured into the partnership. He noted that the experience taught him the importance of being slightly more flexible and enjoying the process alongside discipline.

The veteran coach also addressed broader topics within the sport, including comparisons between top players and past milestones in his own career, which spans historic victories such as his 2000 Davis Cup win at the Palau Sant Jordi.
