Jordan Love Throws Two Touchdown Passes as Packers Hold Off Buccaneers 17-14

Jordan Love threw two touchdown passes and the Green Bay Packers overcame two fourth-quarter turnovers to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 on Sunday, leaving Tampa Bay winless to start the season for the first time since 2014.

Rookie Jalon Daniels Starts as Baker Mayfield Misses First Game

Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels made his first start for Tampa Bay, replacing Baker Mayfield. Mayfield missed a game for the first time in more than three seasons with the Buccaneers due to a thumb dislocation. Daniels threw two interceptions that Green Bay converted into 10 points.

Green Bay Misses Chances to Pull Away in the Fourth Quarter

The Packers (2-2) held a narrow three-point advantage in the final period and wasted two opportunities to extend their lead. Tykee Smith forced Kaleb Johnson to fumble inside the 5-yard line with just over nine minutes remaining. A’Shawn Robinson recovered the loose ball at the 4-yard line, though Tampa Bay’s ensuing offensive drive failed to gain traction.

Later in the quarter, Jacob Parrish intercepted a pass from Love, handing the Buccaneers possession at the 15-yard line with a chance to take the lead. Instead, Daniels threw a short screen pass to Emeka Egbuka on third-and-16, followed by an incomplete pass on fourth down from the Green Bay 47-yard line. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles opted against sending Chase McLaughlin out for a 65-yard field goal attempt, despite McLaughlin converting a kick from that distance last season.

Tampa Bay Falls to 0-4 Start

With the defeat, the Buccaneers dropped to 0-4 for the first time since 2014. Only the 1992 Chargers have ever recovered from an 0-4 start to reach the postseason.
