Jakob Pöltl and Raptors finish preseason against Pistons

The Toronto Raptors wrapped up their National Basketball Association preseason schedule with a 125-129 defeat against the Detroit Pistons on Friday, playing without ten roster members including Jakob Pöltl.

Facing the Pistons on the road, Toronto fielded a heavily rotated lineup for the final dress rehearsal before the real games begin. The coaching staff rested ten players for the Friday fixture, relying instead on a reserve-heavy group that ultimately fell short by four points in a 125-129 final scoreline.

Despite missing the action on the floor, Pöltl reported feeling physically ready after managing back trouble during previous training sessions. “The back is holding up so far. I actually didn’t have any problems with it in the preseason games,” the 31-year-old said, expressing relief at his current health status.

Pöltl Evaluates the Exhibition Slate

Entering his eleventh NBA campaign, Pöltl offered a balanced assessment of Toronto’s autumn preparations. “I would say the preseason was all in all pretty good. We presented ourselves well, but we also saw the things we still need to work on,” Pöltl explained. “Accordingly, I’d say it was definitely positive. Now we’re looking forward to the regular season.”

Across their five exhibition outings, the Raptors compiled a 2-3 record.

Opening Week Schedule Against Chicago

The regular season arrives quickly for Toronto, which opens its 82-game campaign on Wednesday at home against the Chicago Bulls. The opening-night matchup will take place in front of the home crowd, giving Pöltl and his rested teammates an immediate test.

With the exhibition phase officially behind them, Pöltl emphasized that the group remains focused on securing a positive result in their first official outing of the new campaign.
