Itas Mutua Rovigo Promoted to Serie A Gold After Defeating Milano 15-5

The Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo secured promotion to the Serie A Gold on October 12, 2024, after defeating Milano 1946 15–5 on the Kennedy diamond in Milan. Polesine24 reported that the victory completed a 3–0 sweep in the Serie A Silver playoff series, following two narrow home wins in Rovigo.

Playoff Sweep Sealed in Milan

Rovigo entered the third game of the series holding a 2–0 advantage after taking the opening two matches 4–3 and 2–1 on their home diamond in Tassina. On the road in Milan, the visiting squad took control early. Starting pitcher Marelli kept Milan off the scoreboard through the first three innings while the Rovigo offense manufactured two runs in the second.

Milan answered with two runs in the fourth inning, but Rovigo pulled away in the fifth by plating six runs. Relief pitchers Pietrogrande and Destro preserved the lead before the offense added five more runs in the ninth inning to cap the 15–5 victory.

Manager and Leadership React to Milestone

Manager Ricardo Osorio, in his first season leading the senior squad, pointed to the resilience of his roster throughout the campaign. Polesine24 noted Osorio stating that the group demonstrated strong character and executed a powerful performance that exceeded expectations for the final match.

Club President Alessandro Boniolo described the promotion as an immense joy for the city of Rovigo and the organization. Boniolo credited the achievement to the collective work of players, the technical staff, club directors, volunteers, and supporters who backed the team throughout the year.

Foundation and Future in Serie A Gold

The breakthrough stems from multi-year planning and a youth sector that consistently supplies talent to higher divisions. The club now prepares for the logistical and competitive demands of competing among the top tier of Italian baseball in Serie A Gold next season.
