Sixty archers representing 37 sporting clubs will compete for national titles at the Campionati Italiani Targa Para-Archery in Martinsicuro, ekuonews.it reported. The tournament runs from September 25 to 27 at the Stadio Comunale Tommolini, bringing together elite Paralympic competitors in the Recurve, Compound, W1, and Visually Impaired categories.
Among those stepping onto the shooting line are medalists from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Gwangju 2025 World Championships, and the Rome 2026 European Championships. These athletes will use the national competition as a key milestone before turning their focus toward securing qualification quotas next year for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
Torre di Carlo V Hosts Official Tournament Presentation
Local and sporting officials detailed the upcoming competition during a press conference held inside the historic Torre di Carlo V. National archery federation leaders, including FITARCO president Vittorio Polidoro and regional president Claudio Perrotta, joined Martinsicuro mayor Massimo Vagnoni alongside municipal officials to unveil the event schedule. Aldo Di Silverio, president of local host club Arcieri Il Delfino, and Simone Tommolini, head of the local tourism operators association, also attended the briefing.

Siamo onorati di ospitare un evento di tale portata,
Mayor Vagnoni stated during the presentation, emphasizing that the tournament coincides with Martinsicuro and the Val Vibrata region holding the title of European Community of Sport. He noted that such competitions successfully merge athletic inclusion with regional promotion.
Arcieri Il Delfino Leads Local Organization
The tournament is organized by Arcieri Il Delfino, a club founded in Silvi in 1990 that has a long history of promoting national-level federation events in the Teramo province. The event forms part of Val Vibrata’s promotional calendar as a European Community of Sport for 2026. The organizing club receives support from the FITARCO Abruzzo Regional Committee, regional and municipal authorities, TOP 87, and the association Sportivamente Uniti, led by Peppino De Berardinis.
Three-Day Competition Schedule at Stadio Tommolini
Opening ceremonies commence on Friday, September 25, at 6:00 p.m. at the stadium. Earlier that day, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., organizers will host a promotional youth archery initiative for local students, followed by official practice rounds at 3:00 p.m.
Competition officially begins Saturday, September 26, with the 72-arrow ranking round across all divisions to establish class titles and seed the elimination brackets. Individual and team elimination rounds follow through the semifinal stage. Sunday, September 27, features all medal matches for team, mixed team, and individual divisions, concluding with the absolute Italian title presentations and closing ceremonies.
Defending Champions Target Repeat Performances
Last year’s national championships took place in Rovereto, where Giuseppe Verzini and Elisabetta Mijno claimed the recurve titles. Both return to defend their crowns. In the compound division, Giampaolo Cancelli seeks another title, though women’s defending champion Eleonora Sarti remains sidelined due to ongoing shoulder rehabilitation. In the W1 category, Paolo Tonon enters the field to defend his title, while co-champion Asia Pellizzari misses the event due to an injury. Meanwhile, Matteo Panariello in the V.I.1 class and Claudio Peruffo in the V.I.2/3 division both return to defend titles won in 2025.
FITARCO Streams Matches on YouTube
