Hwaseong City Hosts Para-Badminton Tournament and Local Community Festivals

A total of 350 participants gathered on October 24 at the Hwaseong Indoor Badminton Court for the inaugural Hwaseong Mayor’s Cup National Para Badminton Tournament, according to regional reporting. The event drew competitors and officials from across the country, Newsis reported.

Hwaseong Prepares for Provincial Games

Organized by the Hwaseong City Para Sports Association and supervised by the Hwaseong City Disabled Badminton Association, the tournament served as a practical test for municipal athletic infrastructure. City officials used the competition logistics to evaluate safety measures and operational readiness as Hwaseong prepares to host the 47th National Sports Festival for Persons with Disabilities in 2027, and 채민우, Director of Education and Sports for Hwaseong City, attended the event to take commemorative photographs with athletes following the oath-taking ceremony, Financial News reported.

Bong담 Community Gathers for Lotus Festival

While athletes competed at the indoor courts, 4,000 residents converged on Bongdam Lake Park on October 24 for the 13th Sambong Samdam Festival, Newsis reported. Organized by the Bongdam-eup Residents’ Council, the community event centered around the themes of local ponds and lotus flowers. The program ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring pre-opening ceremonies, traditional drum performances, and generational community arts showcases. Food booths served regional specialties including lotus-infused black bean noodles (jjajang) and lotus ice cream, alongside craft-making stations that drew large family crowds.
