SC Heerenveen halted ADO Den Haag‘s momentum with a 3-2 victory in a rain-soaked Den Haag, leaving the hosts lingering near the relegation zone. Jacob Trenskow struck twice for the visitors in the Eredivisie encounter, halting the home side following their surprising victory over PSV the previous week.
Heerenveen controlled the early proceedings in the kletsnat city and claimed a deserved lead when Maxence Rivera delivered a tight cross that Trenskow tapped into the goal. The visitors missed an opportunity to extend their advantage before the break when 19-year-old Belgian Nolhan Courtens shot wide following a pass from Ringo Meerveld, who started in place of the unfit Levi Smans.

Trenskow Nets Second Goal to Extend Lead
Meerveld doubled the lead six minutes after the interval with a high and hard shot. ADO responded when goalkeeper Bernt Klaverboer saved an initial attempt from Daryl van Mieghem, but Nigel Thomas converted the rebound with a fine half-volley. Despite subsequent missed chances from Jalen Hawkins, Evan Rottier, and Van Mieghem, Heerenveen struck again in the 66th minute. Rivera provided another low cross, allowing Trenskow to convincingly net his second goal of the match for a 1-3 margin.
Heerenveen Win Lifts Them to Seventh Place
ADO brought the tension back just before the ‘Haags kwartiertje’ when a low cross from Rottier on the right flank eluded several players, including goalkeeper Klaverboer. Thomas reacted alertly to tap his second goal of the evening into an empty net, making it 2-3. Unlike the previous week against PSV, when a winning goal arrived in the final seconds of added time, no late equalizer followed.
The defeat leaves ADO standing second to last in the Eredivisie. Meanwhile, Heerenveen secured their third win in their last four matches, lifting themselves into the subtop at seventh place in the league standings.
