Gualeguaychú hosted archery homologatory tournament for second year

Gualeguaychú hosted the Torneo Homologatorio de Tiro con Arco for the second year on Sunday, September 27, drawing 84 archers from 16 regional clubs and other provinces. The outdoor tournament featured 70/70 and 50/50 divisions at the Tiro con Arco Gualeguaychú facility located on Acceso Sur General Artigas.

Despite passing rain showers that forced temporary suspensions during the day, the competition successfully met governing body standards. The event was organized by Tiro con Arco Gualeguaychú and officially sanctioned by the Federación Argentina de Tiro con Arco and the Federación Entrerriana de Tiro con Arco, with category winners securing qualification for the upcoming National Final.

Weather Pauses Tournament but Results Remain Official

The competition began normally at 9 a.m. local time on September 27. However, inclement weather created significant difficulties on the field, forcing organizers to pause the tournament temporarily. Event officials later confirmed that despite the weather interruption, the competition was fully homologated under current regulations, allowing all scores and category results to count toward official rankings.

Local Podium Finishes Across Divisions

Local competitors secured numerous podium spots across the compound, barebow, recurve, and longbow divisions. In the male compound category, Carlos Della Penna finished with a silver medal while also capturing first place in the under-18 compound division. Alejandro Della Penna earned gold in male barebow, where Facundo Donoso claimed bronze. In the school divisions, Adrián Gómez secured a silver medal in 50-meter recurve. Rubén Darío Ortiz placed second and Pedro Guzmán took third in the 40-meter school barebow, while Mariana Marín captured gold in the 20-meter school longbow category.

Youth Athletes Win Medals in Development Categories

Younger divisions featured several standout performances from developing athletes. Elena Rodríguez Nikodem took gold in the under-18 recurve 40-meter youth development class. In the under-15 recurve 30-meter division, Amadeo González won gold and Martina Aldaz earned silver, while Manuel Erdozain finished first in the under-15 20-meter recurve. Additional youth medals went to Santino Flores, who won gold in under-13 recurve at 20 meters, and Benicio Alcala, who secured silver in under-13 barebow at the same distance. In the school development classes, Walter Larrea won the AA2 barebow 40-meter event, Joel Barrios took the AA2 barebow 20-meter competition, and Josefina Broin claimed gold in the AA1 barebow 20-meter division.

Tournament Qualifies Athletes for the National Final

The tournament served as a direct qualifier for the National Final, drawing athletes from across the Entrerriana federation alongside members of the Argentine national team. Competition concluded with the official awards ceremony at 4 p.m. local time. Organizers opened the venue to the public with free admission and on-site food service, maintaining Gualeguaychú’s standing on the national archery circuit for a second straight year.
