Archers from multiple categories gathered in Gualeguaychú on September 27 for the Torneo Nacional de Tiro con Arco, marking the second year the city has hosted the official homologation event under the Federación Argentina de Tiro con Arco (FATARCO).
Weather Halts Competition Before Officials Validate Scores
Competition began as scheduled on Sunday morning, but adverse weather conditions soon forced officials to temporarily halt proceedings on the field. Despite the interruption, tournament organizers successfully resumed the schedule and secured official homologation for the event under current regulations, validating all scores and distances recorded across the divisions.
Local Competitors Secure Medals Across Multiple Divisions
Local competitors secured numerous podium finishes across traditional divisions including compound, barebow, recurve, and longbow, alongside developmental school and youth categories. In the men’s compound division, Carlos Della Penna claimed the silver medal while also capturing first place in the under-18 compound bracket. Alejandro Della Penna earned the gold medal in men’s barebow, where Facundo Donoso secured the bronze.
Additional top results featured Adrián Gómez taking silver in the 50-meter school recurve division. In the 40-meter school barebow class, Rubén Darío Ortiz finished second and Pedro Guzmán took third. Mariana Marín topped the podium with a gold medal in the 20-meter school longbow competition.
Youth Athletes Lead Developmental Bracket Participation
Younger athletes drove strong participation numbers across the developmental brackets. Elena Rodríguez Nikodem led the under-18 youth recurve division at 40 meters, while Amadeo González earned gold and Martina Aldaz took silver in the under-15 30-meter recurve class. Manuel Erdozain finished first in the under-15 20-meter recurve bracket. Among the youngest competitors, Santino Flores won gold in the under-13 20-meter recurve division, and Benicio Alcalá captured silver in the under-13 20-meter barebow category. Walter Larrea, Joel Barrios, and Josefina Broin rounded out the divisional victories by winning their respective school-level barebow events.
