Girona B defends its Vidreres fortress against Espanyol B
Girona FC’s reserve side heads into Sunday’s fixture holding seventh place in the standings with two wins, one draw, and one loss across four matches. Ángel Donato’s squad returns to action at their home ground after missing last weekend’s scheduled fixture away against Terrassa. The team now prepares to host an Espanyol B side sitting in fifth place with two points more than them.
Right-back Gibert Jordana acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming challenge during club media statements. «It will be a very complicated match», Jordana said. «We know they are a competitive team and a reserve side just like us, full of young players with a lot of quality, technique, and desire. But it will be a very good match, and I think we will take the three points».
Building momentum after defeating the league leaders
Their most recent outing delivered a comeback victory against Osasuna Promesas, where left-back Gerard Badia scored the goal. Badia recently accompanied Quique Álvarez in his first days with the senior squad.

Jordana addressed the unique challenge of splitting time between the youth setup and the senior team. «The fact of going up and down from the first team I wouldn’t say is complicated», Jordana stated. «What I am is happy with my situation. At the reserve team I play and compete, and when I train with the first team, I give the best of myself».
Vidreres emerges as a reliable home stronghold
The team has secured six points from their home fixtures, defeating both Tudelano and Osasuna Promesas.
«People already say that Vidreres is the fortress, it’s our home», Jordana said. «We feel the people supporting us, and I don’t know what happens, whether we have a knack for it or play better, which is where we have the most victories. Now, we hope to add another one».
