Giannis Antetokounmpo debuted for the Miami Heat during a 129-105 preseason victory against the Toronto Raptors in Quebec, recording nine points, four rebounds, and seven assists in the first half.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Takes Control Early in Quebec
The matchup marked the first public appearance for Antetokounmpo in a Heat uniform following his departure from the Milwaukee Bucks. Stepping onto the floor in Quebec, the forward wasted little time making an impact. He opened his scoring account with a determined and-one drive to the basket, quickly following up with a fadeaway jumper and a series of precise passes to open teammates.
Despite a few early miscues with his dribble, Antetokounmpo played nearly flawless basketball through the first two quarters. He shot a clean 3-for-3 from the field, opened the second quarter with another physical and-one conversion, and controlled the offense from the high post.
Playmaking Gravity Creates Open Threes for Miami
While Antetokounmpo finished the half with nine points, his seven assists proved to be the night’s most telling statistic. Defences collapsed toward the former Most Valuable Player whenever he drove or operated in the paint, regularly leaving perimeter shooters wide open.
Players such as Tim Hardaway Jr., Bobby Portis, and Andrew Wiggins capitalized on the defensive attention by finding space behind the arc. The Heat shot 11-of-23 from three-point range before intermission, building a commanding 76-55 lead by halftime.

Reserves Maintain the Lead After Halftime
Neither team played its primary rotation pieces after the break, as coaching staffs used the second half to evaluate the depth of their rosters. Miami head coach deployed his bench for the final two quarters, with the second-unit players successfully protecting the sizeable margin built during the opening frames.
The Raptors, playing without several key contributors, could not close the gap as the game finished with a 24-point victory for the Floridian side. Although preseason results carry no weight for the regular-season standings and came against a depleted Toronto squad, the evening offered local fans a clear glimpse of their new centerpiece orchestrating the floor.
