Giannis Antetokounmpo said his conditioning has been tested like never before following his move to the Miami Heat, noting in a recent podcast appearance that he has never run so much during training camp.
Offensive Chemistry and Preseason Adaptation
Antetokounmpo evaluated his integration into the roster following the team’s third preseason victory. He described the team’s offensive flow as promising despite a short adjustment window.

“I have fun, we play well together. Our offensive look is good,” Antetokounmpo said. “It is my third game for the Heat, but I try to play with all my strength. My teammates and coaches want me to play aggressively and try to create plays. I will continue to do that.”
“Our chemistry is at the highest level—of course it can get better. But we have such good players who try to do the right things and support each other,” he added.
Demanding Training Sessions in Florida
Speaking on the “Thanalysis Show” podcast hosted by his brother and former Milwaukee Bucks teammate Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the forward detailed the physical toll of Miami’s practice regimen. Antetokounmpo and his brother won an NBA championship together with Milwaukee in 2021.

“I think I have never run so much,” Antetokounmpo said regarding the conditioning work in Florida. He emphasized that the intensity extends across the entire roster, stating that nobody cuts corners during drills.
During the podcast, Antetokounmpo also recounted how Heat team president Pat Riley traveled to Athens to pitch him on joining the franchise, an effort that ultimately secured the superstar’s commitment.
Upcoming Preseason Finale and Season Opener
The Heat conclude their exhibition schedule with a matchup against the Orlando Magic, featuring German internationals Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva. The game takes place at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Miami opens its regular-season schedule on October 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota handed the Heat their only loss during the current preparation phase.
“I think we have something special, but it has to stay that way—we haven’t achieved anything yet,” Antetokounmpo said. “The more I play, the better I will feel. My teammates tell me what they need from me. The coaches talk to me often. I just want the season to start.”
