FSV Aufkirchen marks 50th anniversary with community celebration in Egenhofen

The Freizeit- und Sportverein Aufkirchen marks its 50th anniversary on Sunday with a church service and a gathering at the local parish hall in Egenhofen, following community celebrations reported by local media. Club president Georg Sigl, who has led the organization since 2004, stated that while celebrations were originally intended for the newly renovated multipurpose hall, missing furniture and kitchen equipment forced the event to move to the parish hall.

Origins and early sporting milestones in Bavaria

Established in 1976 by 45 founding members, the club expanded rapidly across the municipality of Egenhofen. By May 1977, the organization inaugurated its new sports grounds with Gerd Müller in attendance, holding its first official general meeting in the multi-purpose hall a year later. Early competitors built the club’s regional profile, including Hannes Kiser, who placed 56th among more than 4,000 runners in the 1986 Holmenkollen ski marathon, and Irmgard Böck, who secured the German rollski mountain running title in 1989.

Infrastructure growth through volunteer labor

Club facilities expanded significantly over five decades, driven primarily by member contributions. Volunteers logged more than 4,500 hours of labor between 2020 and 2022 to construct an extension for the original 1993 clubhouse. President Georg Sigl noted that leadership relies on active, hands-on commitment from members to maintain operations across the site.
