The French Judo Federation has renewed the para judo label for the La Milesse judo club, recognizing the facility’s ongoing programs for athletes with disabilities, as reported by Ouest-France.
La Milesse Secures Para Judo Renewal
The national designation highlights the club’s integration efforts on the tatami. “We want everyone to find their place on the mats, regardless of their abilities, desires, or goals,” club president Aurélien Véron stated.
Taiso Classes Expand at La Milesse
Alongside adaptive judo, the club’s taiso conditioning classes draw consistent participants during weekly sessions held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Derived from judo physical training routines, the discipline focuses on muscle strengthening, mobility, balance, and endurance without requiring direct martial arts combat. “It is a complete, accessible, and friendly practice,” Véron noted.
Self-Defense and Community Outreach
The club’s self-defense division, Self-défense AJC 72, conducts technical training sessions covering kata, ju-jitsu, and self-defense every Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. To encourage broader community participation, the club hosts free self-defense workshops open to the public, focusing on fundamental reflexes and personal confidence.
In October, the organization hosted a family judo event supporting the French League Against Cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Nearly 50 participants gathered on the mats for the charity initiative, which combined sport with fundraising donations.

Looking ahead on the regional sports calendar, L’Antonnière judo club 72 is set to host a satellite tournament and youth grand prix, drawing competitors and clubs from across the area. “We want to make AJC72 a place to practice a sport, but also to meet, share, and participate in local life,” Véron said. “We wish to meet expectations in terms of sport, well-being, inclusion, and prevention.”
