Former Basketball Player Jeon Se-hee Pursues Dream as Sports Announcer

Former basketball player Jeon Se-hee is transitioning to a career as a sports announcer, building on years of hands-on experience across athletic courts, broadcasting booths, and public speaking venues, bntnews reported.

From Court to Broadcast Booth

Jeon’s path toward broadcasting evolved through external activities with the Korea Sports Council, where she worked as a sports reporter. That early fieldwork eventually expanded into audio and digital platforms, including radio sports broadcasts and Naver Sports streaming coverage. Alongside her media projects, she spent approximately six years working as a basketball instructor, teaching students ranging from kindergarteners to high schoolers. That instructional experience helped her refine how she communicates at varying listener levels.

Expanding Live Event Experience

Beyond traditional sports broadcasting, Jeon has widened her public presentation credentials by serving as a solo master of ceremonies for regional community events and orchestra performances. Those assignments have sharpened her live-stage management and hosting skills. She is now channeling those accumulated competencies into her participation in the Anatainer World competition, seeking a larger platform to demonstrate her broadcasting talents.

“Through various experiences, I’ve built my announcing skills, but there haven’t been many chances to fully show what I can do,” Jeon said, according to bntnews. “Through this competition, I want to show my bright energy and hosting abilities to the fullest. I hope people who see me feel that I am someone who fits sports well and someone they would want to work with.”

Broadcasting Goals and Core Strengths

Jeon points to her athletic background and experience communicating with various people as her primary professional advantages, giving her an intrinsic grasp of sports and direct familiarity with the perspectives of active competitors. Her stated objective reaches beyond simply reading final match scores; she aims to understand the hearts of athletes and convey the fun and emotion of sports from the viewer’s point of view.

Looking ahead, Jeon intends to secure a role at a broadcasting station as a professional sports announcer while continuing to build practical experience across diverse media and live event stages. “Rather than waiting for an opportunity to arrive, I want to create it myself,” Jeon said. “I want to be remembered by viewers as an announcer they can trust to watch, and at the venue, as a broadcaster people want to work with.”
