Latvian defenseman Uvis Balinskis recorded a +2 plus-minus rating while playing 14 minutes and 40 seconds as the [Florida Panthers](https://jauns.lv/raksts/sports/731746-balinska-un-vilmana-panthers-atkal-piedzivo-zaudejumu-pagarinajuma) fell 3-2 in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks, according to a report by Diena. The Sunday matchup at the Honda Center extended the Panthers’ streak of overtime games to start the new NHL season to three straight contests.
## Overtime Struggles Continue for Florida
The [Panthers opened their](https://sportacentrs.com/hokejs/nhl/09102026-vilmana_un_balinska_kolegis_marsans_izvai) season schedule by defeating the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes in extra time before dropping consecutive overtime decisions. Following an overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, Florida surrendered the game-winning goal to Anaheim’s Mikael Granlund during the final minute of the extra session.
Anaheim capitalized early when Cutter Gauthier scored a power-play goal at the 17-minute mark of the first period. Carter Verhaeghe responded for Florida less than a minute later to level the score at 1-1. Gauthier regained the lead for the Ducks in the opening minute of the second period, leaving the Panthers chasing the game until late in regulation.
## Balinskis and Vilmanis Stat Lines
Balinskis logged significant ice time across various situations, featuring for one minute and 10 seconds on the power play and 15 seconds shorthanded. The defenseman committed one turnover while earning a team-best tying plus-minus rating of +2.
Forward Sinds Vilmanis skated for 13 minutes and 38 seconds, registering four shots on goal, two body checks, and one turnover. Vilmanis finished the contest with an even plus-minus rating.
## Marchand Returns and Standings Context
Brad Marchand provided the late heroics for Florida, scoring with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime. The veteran forward netted his first goal since February while making his season debut.

With four points through three games, the Panthers sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings. Meanwhile, the Ducks hold four points from two games to rank fourth in the Western Conference.
