Filmmaker Éric K. Boulianne Returns to Baie-Saint-Paul for Ciné-club Charlevoix

Filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor Éric K. Boulianne returned to his hometown of Baie-Saint-Paul on Saturday to present his two most recent feature projects, Farador and Folichonneries, during the opening day of screenings for Ciné-club Charlevoix, Le Charlevoisien reported. Speaking to local audiences at the Pavillon Jacques-St-Gelais-Tremblay of the Musée d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, the local artist admitted to feeling a rare sense of nervousness ahead of the hometown screenings.

Hometown Screenings After International Premieres

While Boulianne’s films have traveled to festival screens and audiences across the globe, bringing his work back to Charlevoix marked a distinct personal milestone for the creator. “I presented my films pretty much everywhere in the world, I was lucky on that side, but never at home when it is here that everything started for me,” Boulianne told Le Charlevoisien. “It touched me to have been invited to present my films.” The Saturday event featured afternoon screenings of Farador, followed by evening showings of Folichonneries set for 7:00 p.m. local time (UTC-4).

Upcoming Film and Television Projects

The screenwriter recently wrapped a heavy shooting block for a television mini-series continuation of Farador. In addition to the fantasy-comedy adaptation, Boulianne is writing an upcoming feature film alongside director Émile Gaudreault centered on the creation of Michel Tremblay’s celebrated theatrical play Les Belles-Sœurs. He is also attached as a collaborator to Stéphane Lafleur’s next feature film project.
