FIFA Demands Separation of ANFP and Chilean Football Federation by November 30

Pablo Milad denies that a recent meeting with FIFA delegates regarding the structural separation of Chilean football descended into a scandal or a dispute. ADN Deportes reported that international representatives visited Chile to oversee the legal partition between the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional and the Federación de Fútbol de Chile.

Pablo Milad Rejects Reports of Turmoil Over FIFA Separation Terms

Reports emerged following the delegation’s visit suggesting intense friction between domestic officials and international governing body representatives. The review of the statutes required to divide the entities sparked widespread speculation of severe tension within the domestic game.

Speaking to CNN Chile, the ANFP president dismissed characterizations of a crisis. I think that titles like scandal, like earthquake, are excessively linked to an imagination, I don’t know whose, but unfortunately I didn’t see that, Milad said. I was 100% in the meeting and I never saw a manifestation, nor an earthquake, nor a scandal.

Differing perspectives exist regarding how the governance transition should unfold. Milad acknowledged those divergent positions while emphasizing that FIFA’s primary objective centers on institutional stability rather than short-term administrative placeholders.

FIFA what it wants is governance stability, not transition governments, but rather that I finish the period with the purpose of handing it over to a new president for four years and not to a president who can last one, two, or three months, Milad told CNN Chile. And what FIFA is looking for is governance stability.

Statute Deadlines and Election Conditions Facing the ANFP

According to reports from ADN Deportes, the governing body set a deadline of November 30 for the final approval of the new statutes governing the separation. Furthermore, the conditions dictate that the winner of the November 19 presidential election between candidates Jorge Uauy and Jorge Yunge will assume control solely over the Chilean League.

Under this arrangement, a separate subsequent election must be organized to establish the board of directors for the Federación de Fútbol de Chile. ADN Deportes reported that this specific condition caused discontent for Uauy, who currently serves as president of Palestino alongside his presidential candidacy.

Despite reports of friction, Milad asserted that complete consensus has been reached with domestic stakeholders. He pointed to agreement from the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Amateur and other interest groups who will hold positions on the new Federation Council.

As we have completely agreed on the statutes with ANFA and with the interest groups, where they are going to be an important part, as we have said, only the step of approving these statutes and carrying them out remains, Milad stated to CNN Chile.

Timeline for Federation Elections and Leadership Plans

The global governing body mandates that elections for the new Federation take place no later than February 28, with the possibility of an earlier date, under a four-year mandate. Milad reiterated that he holds no intention of seeking re-election to the post.

No, I have said and repeat only, the personal intention was always to deliver this, a key to each one, the key of the ANFP and the key of the Federation, Milad said, noting that handing over administrative control to a four-year executive forms the culmination of his governance program.

The ANFP presidential election is scheduled for November 19, followed by the statutory approval deadline on November 30, with Federation elections targeted to conclude by February 28.
