Fenerbahçe Tarfin and Panathinaikos have developed one of the most fiercely contested rivalries in modern EuroLeague basketball, with their last five encounters all decided by six points or fewer, Eurohoops reported.
The Five Tightest EuroLeague Battles
The intense rivalry between the Turkish and Greek powerhouses has consistently delivered down-to-the-wire finishes on the continental stage. Over their past five head-to-head fixtures, neither squad has managed to secure a comfortable margin of victory, highlighting how evenly matched the two rosters remain.
The sequence of these five encounters began on October 25, 2024, when Panathinaikos edged past Fenerbahçe Tarfin 81-76 in Istanbul. The rematch on February 4, 2025, in Athens provided even more drama, with Panathinaikos holding on for a narrow 91-90 triumph.
The 2025 Final Four Showdown in Abu Dhabi
The most consequential meeting of the recent series took place on May 23, 2025, during the EuroLeague Final Four. Facing off in the semifinal round, Fenerbahçe Tarfin defeated Panathinaikos 82-76. That victory propelled the Turkish side into the championship game, where they ultimately claimed the EuroLeague trophy.
The tension between the two clubs extended beyond the final scores last season, fueled by on-court logo disputes and memorable individual moments, such as Wade Baldwin’s last-second basket inside the OAKA arena.
Panathinaikos and Fenerbahçe Tarfin Trade Close Victories
The competitive trend continued into the 2025–26 EuroLeague regular season. On December 16, 2025, Panathinaikos secured an 81-77 away victory against Fenerbahçe Tarfin. Just a few weeks later, on February 13, 2026, Fenerbahçe Tarfin returned the favor by defeating Panathinaikos 85-83 in Greece.
