Tyrol is experiencing an unprecedented surge in football ticket demand as second-division club FC Wacker Innsbruck prepares for back-to-back sellouts at Tivoli Stadion. Online presales for the upcoming ÖFB-Cup fixture against Bundesliga side WSG Tirol moved 8,500 tickets within a single day.
Record Ticket Demand at Tivoli Stadion
Football enthusiasm around the Innsbruck venue has reached levels not witnessed even during the peak eras of FC Tirol under Ernst Happel or during the successful run led by Kurt Jara and Jogi Löw around the turn of the millennium. The stadium, which opened in 2000, is now on course to host two consecutive sellout crowds for the first time in its history.
The upcoming second-division derby between arch-rivals Wacker Innsbruck and Austria Salzburg, scheduled for October 16 at 20:30 local time, sold out its allotment of over 16,000 tickets weeks in advance. Just under two weeks later, the stadium faces another capacity crowd when Wacker hosts local rivals WSG Tirol in the round of 16 of the ÖFB-Cup.
Wacker Innsbruck Expects 300,000 Euros in Matchday Revenue
Online ticket sales for the cup tie opened at 07:00 local time on a Wednesday, and demand spiked immediately. The first 3,500 tickets were sold within 75 minutes, with total sales reaching 8,500 by the end of the day. Wacker President Hannes Rauch remarked that the stands will once again be packed to capacity for the fixture.
Unlike high-risk league fixtures, the cup encounter against WSG Tirol is not classified as a high-risk match. Because of this classification, FC Wacker Innsbruck stands to generate approximately 300,000 euros in matchday revenue from the fixture, turning the high-profile local showdown into a significant financial boost for the club.

Upcoming Match Schedule
FC Wacker Innsbruck will first face Austria Salzburg at Tivoli Stadion on October 16 at 20:30 local time in front of a sold-out crowd exceeding 16,000 spectators. The ÖFB-Cup round of 16 match against WSG Tirol takes place nearly two weeks later at the same venue, with ticket availability narrowing rapidly following Wednesday’s heavy sales volume.
