FC Barcelona Eyes Nicolo Tresoldi as Long-Term Lewandowski Successor with €50 Million Price Tag
FC Barcelona has identified Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi as a primary target to eventually succeed Robert Lewandowski, with Spanish sports daily Sport reporting that the German youth international could command a transfer fee exceeding 50 million euros. The 22-year-old has emerged on the radar of the Catalan club as sporting leadership plans for the future of its central attacking position following a turbulent summer of squad restructuring.
Summer Turnover and the Search for a Striker
Barcelona faced a major transition during the recent transfer window when Robert Lewandowski departed the Blaugrana on a free transfer to join Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire. Backup forward Ferran Torres also exited Camp Nou to sign with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving head coach Hansi Flick short on established center-forward options.
The club attempted to secure several high-profile alternatives before the deadline. Moves for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez ultimately failed to materialize. Barcelona pivoted late in the window to sign Gabriel Jesus, though the forward has largely been utilized as a substitute since arriving in Catalonia.

Raphinha Fills Scoring Void While Tresoldi Attracts Attention
Flick solved the immediate scoring void by shifting natural winger Raphinha into the central striker role. The tactical adjustment paid immediate dividends as the Brazilian started the campaign in prolific fashion, netting 14 goals across his first eight competitive appearances.
Despite Raphinha’s success, Barcelona’s long-term planning points toward a permanent solution in the center of the attack. Tresoldi has drawn scouts’ attention through strong form at Club Brugge, where he is under contract until 2029. Across his first nine appearances of the season, the forward has recorded five goals.
International Crossroads Between Germany and Italy
Tresoldi’s club form has also translated to the international stage with the Germany under-21 national team. During his debut as team captain, he scored a hat-trick in a 4:1 victory over Malta during European Under-21 Championship qualifying.
Tresoldi has indicated through reported plans that he will make a final decision regarding his senior international future between Germany and Italy following the UEFA Under-21 European Championship in the summer of 2027.
