Barcelona-based band Estertor is set to release their third album, Evil Black Church, through Black Lion Records. The upcoming record features eight tracks that blend aggressive elements of black, death, and thrash metal, with the group drawing thematic inspiration from classic Italian horror cinema, according to reports.
The band, consisting of vocalist Edu Jiménez, guitarists Des Farré and Daniel Zolyniak, bassist Sergi Recobenis, and drummer Enrique Moral, has focused the album’s lyrical themes on the concepts of the devil, evil, and cinematic blasphemy. The project marks a continued collaboration with Javi Félez of Moontower Studios, who also oversaw the production of the band’s 2021 release, Tales from the Ancient Grave.
Production and Visual Aesthetics
The technical production of Evil Black Church was handled at Moontower Studios by Javi Félez, a musician from the band Dawn of Hate. To complement the sonic direction of the record, the band commissioned specific visual elements: the cover art was created by María Panizo of Altar of Worms, while the graphic design was managed by Marta Casanovas. The promotional photography for the release was conducted by Eduard Tuset at a former autopsy room in Manresa, and the band’s logo was crafted by César Valladares.
High-Intensity Sound Draws Comparisons to Celtic Frost
The album is characterized by a high-intensity sound that draws comparisons to established acts such as Celtic Frost and Obituary. The tracks are designed to maintain a relentless pace, featuring complex guitar work and frequent tempo changes intended to highlight the band’s technical proficiency. The title track, “Evil Black Church,” serves as the opener, transitioning from a fast, aggressive rhythm to an unexpected, quiet conclusion.

The tracklist for the album is as follows:
- Evil Black Church
- Night of the owl
- Scumbags from hell
- March of the Dèmoni
- Nightmare returns
- Open coffin, empty grave
- Sinister Resurrection
- Seven portals of evil
Several songs on the album incorporate audio samples from horror films to establish atmospheric intros, such as the desperate cries featured in “March of the Dèmoni.” The track “Nightmare returns” is noted for a technical guitar solo, while “Open coffin, empty grave” focuses on a straightforward, anthemic chorus intended for live performance. The record concludes with “Seven portals of evil,” which integrates melodic guitar work with the album’s signature aggressive vocal delivery.
Black Lion Records Partners for Album Distribution
Estertor has developed the album with the intention of creating a high-energy experience for concert environments. While the band has not yet announced a specific tour schedule or release date, the album’s completion and the distribution partnership with Black Lion Records signal the next phase of the group’s promotional cycle. Fans can expect further announcements regarding live dates and availability through the label’s official channels.
