The Philadelphia Eagles traded center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, the NFL announced Wednesday.
Baltimore Sends Draft Capital to Philadelphia for Jurgens
The trade sends two future draft selections to the Eagles while routing a pair of assets back to Baltimore. According to announcements from both teams, the Ravens acquire Jurgens alongside a 2027 seventh-round selection. In return, Philadelphia receives a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.
The transaction alters the roster composition for both franchises just as the regular season reaches its early weeks. Philadelphia enters the trade cycle holding an NFC East championship pedigree from a 2024 campaign that ended in the Wild Card Round, while Baltimore absorbs a veteran blocker carrying a recent contract extension signed in 2025.
Pro Bowl Success Follows Kelce Succession
Jurgens entered the league out of Nebraska as a second-round selection in 2022, drafted with input from Jason Kelce, who assisted general manager Howie Roseman during the scouting process. After waiting behind Kelce through the 2023 season, Jurgens stepped into the starting lineup for 16 games in 2024. That breakout season yielded a Pro Bowl selection, making him the youngest Eagles center to earn the honor since Ken Farragut in 1953, alongside a Super Bowl ring.
He returned to the Pro Bowl in 2025 despite an offseason complicated by back surgery and a slow start to his recovery. The team rewarded that trajectory with a four-year, $68 million contract extension during the 2025 cycle, locking in his services long-term before shifting its personnel strategy months later.
Position Shifting Paves the Way for Departure
Production levels dipped during the current 2026 campaign following a positional adjustment on the offensive line. That transition yielded difficult results on the field, resulting in a second-to-last Pro Football Focus grade among qualifying players through the first four weeks of the season.
Those struggles on the interior contrasted sharply with his previous metrics from 2024, when Pro Football Focus ranked him in the upper half of his positional peers.
Baltimore Addresses Interior Line Concerns
The Ravens absorb Jurgens into an offensive line room seeking stability and depth. Baltimore’s front office elected to surrender premium future draft capital—specifically a second-round choice in 2028 and a fifth-round choice in 2027—to secure an established starter with postseason experience. The addition provides immediate reinforcement for an offensive scheme that required external help at the pivot position.
Both teams submitted their official paperwork to league offices on Wednesday, clearing Jurgens to join his new club ahead of upcoming preparations.
