The Eagles said in a release that Jalen Hurts will miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers after medical tests revealed a blood clot, following previous evaluations where the team medical staff analyzed the results and determined that the activity and mobility were important, and that Jalen could jouer sans risque.
A Transatlantic Discovery
The medical issue stems from an evaluation following the team’s transatlantic trip to London. On Saturday, preventative medical exams conducted after arrival revealed the presence of a blood clot.

The discovery came shortly after Hurts reported a calf injury stemming from an October 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams, where he absorbed a cleat kick. According to a statement from the Eagles, Hurts visited the medical tent following practice on Thursday, October 8, to request treatment for the calf.
Assessing Risk Abroad
Team medical staff evaluated the results from the initial Saturday screening in London and determined that physical activity and mobility remained safe for Hurts at that time. They requested follow-up examinations within 72 hours of the game’s conclusion.
Hurts played without limitation during the team’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. He completed 21 passes for 220 yards with one touchdown pass and added two rushing yards on two carries. The Eagles ultimately dropped a 19-17 decision in the closing moments of the contest.
Diagnostic Shift in Philadelphia
Subsequent diagnostic testing upon the team’s return to Philadelphia altered the medical outlook.
A follow-up ultrasound conducted on Wednesday night revealed movement within the blood clot. That finding prompted medical personnel to sideline Hurts for the game against the Panthers while treatment options are evaluated.
A Depleted Offense
The Eagles noted that player health and safety remain the organization’s top priorities.
The team enters the weekend missing its top three running backs, a group that includes Saquon Barkley, alongside a 2-3 record.
