Dylan Jasso Home Run Powers Naranjeros Past Mexicali 3-0 in Season Opener

Naranjeros de Hermosillo defeated los Emplumados 3-0 in the opening game of the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Banamex season at Estadio El Nido de los Águilas, ivpressonline.com reported.

Dylan Jasso Powers Hermosillo Past Mexicali

The visiting Naranjeros broke a scoreless tie in the second inning when Dylan Jasso launched a three-run home run to left-center field. Hermosillo had put two runners on base ahead of Jasso, who capitalized on a pitch from Mexicali starting pitcher David Reyes to supply all the offense the visitors would need.

David Reyes took the loss for Mexicali, working five innings and surrendering four hits and three runs. Zac Grotz earned the start for Hermosillo, tossing 4 1/3 solid innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen.

Missed Opportunities Haunt los Emplumados

Despite generating traffic on the basepaths throughout the evening, Mexicali failed to come up with the decisive hit with runners in scoring position. Chuckie Robinson led the home side offensively with a pair of singles and a double, while Yadir Drake contributed a double and a single, but the offense could not break through against the Hermosillo pitching staff.

Relief pitchers Alonso Becerra, Norman Elenes, Juan Robles, Zac Rosscup, and Jake Sánchez combined to shut out Hermosillo the rest of the way for Mexicali, allowing no further damage from the fifth inning onward.

Bullpen Excellence Secures the Shutout Victory

After Zac Grotz exited in the fifth, the Hermosillo bullpen locked down the narrow advantage. Luis Márquez, Orlando González, and Ángel Camacho bridged the gap before Jimmy Burnette picked up the win in relief. Colten Brewer entered in the final frames to slam the door, securing the save and completing the three-hit shutout.
