Coaches Assess the Turning Points
Trenčín head coach Todd Woodcroft praised his squad for executing a complete sixty-minute effort against a reigning champion playing a demanding schedule. Woodcroft pointed out that Nitra continues to balance domestic league play with the Champions Hockey League, noting that a few top players were unavailable for the fixture. My sme hrali na vrchole našich možností celých 60 minút,
Woodcroft said in comments provided by TASR, adding that the team would enjoy the victory briefly before returning to work.
On the opposing bench, Nitra head coach Erik Čaládi offered a stark evaluation of his team’s opening period. Čaládi stated that tactical preparations discussed prior to the match failed to translate onto the ice during the early stages. Všetko čo sme si povedali a na čo sme sa pripravovali už od včerajšku, nejakým spôsobom ostalo v kabíne a zase sme začali hrať až keď sme prehrávali o troch góloch.
Nitra Struggles for Consistency as Dukla Trenčín Improves
The defeat leaves Nitra trying to find consistency after nine rounds of the Tipsport liga campaign. The reigning titleholders entered the matchup looking to build on a narrow 2:1 overtime victory against Zvolen, but instead recorded their sixth setback of the young season. Meanwhile, Dukla Trenčín celebrated its fifth victory in its last six outings, moving the club firmly upward in domestic form.
