Diamniadio has officially confirmed its readiness to host events for the Youth Olympic Games

Diamniadio has officially confirmed its readiness to host events for the Youth Olympic Games, deploying a multi-venue infrastructure anchored by the 50,000-seat Stade Abdoulaye Wade.

Stade Abdoulaye Wade anchors multi-sport venue lineup

The 50,000-capacity Stade Abdoulaye Wade serves as the centerpiece for the Diamniadio Olympic deployment. Also known as the Stade du Sénégal or Stade Olympique du Sénégal, the facility opened in 2022 under former President Macky Sall during a ceremony attended by international heads of state, including Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, alongside sports leaders Gianni Infantino of FIFA and Patrice Motsepe of CAF.

Dakar Arena and Exhibition Center secure indoor events

Indoor disciplines find their home at the Dakar Arena, a 15,000-seat Palais des sports in Diamniadio inaugurated on August 8, 2018, originally constructed for basketball competitions. Meanwhile, the Centre des expositions de Diamniadio provides more than 20,000 square meters of floor space across six exhibition halls ranging from 1,400 to 4,500 square meters. The exhibition hub recently hosted the fifth edition of the International Exhibition of Electricity and Renewable Energies in February 2026.

Equestrian grounds complete the Olympic site roster

Show jumping and equestrian disciplines are assigned to the newly established equestrian center, locally known as the Caserne équestre. Inaugurated by President Diomaye Faye in August 2026, the facility is scheduled to host its Olympic events from November 3 to November 6.

Confirmed sports schedule across Diamniadio facilities

The allocation of disciplines spans ten distinct sports across the designated venues. Badminton, futsal final phases, judo, fencing, taekwondo, artistic gymnastics, archery, show jumping, table tennis, and wushu make up the complete competitive lineup assigned to the Diamniadio hub for the Games.
