Cross-Border Sports Day in Kruså Targets Adults Over 50 Participants over the age of 50 can try out table tennis, badminton, softtennis, and pickleball for a fee of 100 kroner (13 euros) at an upcoming cross-border sports event in Kruså, organized by DGI, the Deutscher Jugendverband für Nordschleswig (DJN), and Sydslesvigs danske Ungdomsforeninger (SdU).
Scheduled for November 14 in the Grenzhallen in Krusau (Kruså), the deutsch-dänischer Schlagsport-Tag runs from 10:00 to 14:30. The program centers on community, the joy of movement, and making new contacts across the border, featuring activities accompanied in both German and Danish. Registration remains open through October 30 via the DGI website.
Four Racket Sports Selected for Easy Entry
Attendees can test four different racket sports: table tennis, badminton, softtennis, and pickleball. Organizers selected these disciplines because they require little equipment and minimal prior knowledge, allowing games to start immediately. Softtennis offers a gentle, playful form of tennis featuring a softer ball and a slower pace, while pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis on a court roughly the size of a badminton court, with movements ideal for this age group.
Es wird ein Tag mit viel Gemeinschaft und Inspiration. Ich finde, es ist ein tolles Projekt, denn jeder kann neue Sportarten ausprobieren und neue Leute kennenlernen,
said Anne-Didde Holt, consultant for adult and senior sports at DGI Sønderjylland. Holt added that the offerings suit both beginners and participants with prior experience, focusing on shared exploration rather than performance and competition.
Alkis Zimmermann Leads Table Tennis Workshop
Alkis Zimmermann, the new DJN sports teacher who will lead the table tennis workshop, stated, Ich finde, das Ganze ist eine großartige Idee. Es ist grenzüberschreitend und für Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer in gehobenen Alter, die Kontakte knüpfen und aktiv sein können. Das ist eine tolle Sache.
The Bürgerprojektefonds finances the racket sports day with funds from Interreg Deutschland-Danmark.
