Damien Comolli has been appointed as the chief executive officer and president of Italian Serie B club Pisa, returning to football administration just months after his departure from Juventus.
A Tuscan New Chapter Following Piedmont Exit
The French executive takes over leadership at the Tuscan club after leaving his position in Turin last June following a single season with Juventus. Reports indicate his exit from the Bianconeri stemmed from disagreements with manager Luciano Spalletti. At 54 years old, Comolli steps immediately into an active administrative role in Italy’s second tier, joining the board of directors alongside his presidential duties.

Pisa currently sits third in the Serie B table. The club secured promotion back to the division following a difficult 2025–26 campaign in Serie A that ended with a 20th-place finish and relegation.
Alexander Knaster Outlines Growth Strategy
American businessman Alexander Knaster, who acquired control of Pisa in 2021, pointed to Comolli’s extensive background in player recruitment and club management as the catalyst for the appointment. According to official club statements, the ownership group views the leadership transition as a necessary step for sustained development.

« Après plusieurs saisons au cours desquelles nous avons assisté à des améliorations significatives dans tous les domaines du club, le moment est venu pour Pise d’entrer dans une nouvelle phase de croissance et de développement », noted Knaster in remarks published by Ouest-France. « Je suis convaincu que cela peut se faire sous la direction de Damien, qui apporte avec lui une grande expérience et une profonde connaissance du football, tant sur le terrain qu’en dehors. »
An Extensive European Administrative Career
Comolli brings a lengthy resume spanning multiple top-flight European leagues to the Arena Garettoni. His previous executive experience includes sporting director roles at English Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, as well as a tenure as president of French club Toulouse from 2020 to 2025.

While his stint in Turin proved brief, his arrival in Tuscany marks a direct return to Italian football operations. Pisa’s current standing near the promotion places in Serie B provides an immediate platform for the incoming executive as the club targets a swift return to the Italian top flight.
