Corinthians supporters have scheduled a public demonstration for Monday, Oct. 12, a national holiday, outside the club’s social headquarters at Parque São Jorge. Meu Timão reported that the gathering will begin with concentration at 12:00 local time (15:00 UTC) and the main protest is set for 13:00 local time (16:00 UTC). The event is organized by the Projeto Time do Povo collective under the movement banner #IntervençãoFiel. The mobilization was called by everyday fans without formal organized supporters’ group structures and is open to all Corinthians supporters. Organizers stated the protest will be peaceful, free of party-political flags, and entirely independent of any presidential candidacies for the club election scheduled for Nov. 28. The São Paulo Military Police received prior notice regarding the demonstration.
The mobilization unfolds against a backdrop of severe institutional strain at Corinthians that extends beyond athletic results to touch financial, administrative, and political stability. According to the organizing group, the core grievance centers on a lack of managerial transparency, particularly concerning the club’s debt load. Organizers point out that no public, auditable documentation exists to pinpoint the exact total liabilities of Corinthians, especially regarding the Neo Química Arena financing agreement with Caixa Econômica Federal. This issue forms the focal point of an ongoing investigative procedure within the São Paulo State Public Ministry (MP-SP).
It is not a protest against a result, a coach, or a player,
said Victor Pelizaro of Projeto Time do Povo. It is about the management model. We want to take this message to the club’s door, in a peaceful and organized way: Corinthians needs judicial intervention.
Financial Liabilities And Public Ministry Investigation
The upcoming street demonstration represents the first public street action organized by the #IntervençãoFiel movement, which has already gathered more than 27 mil assinaturas em um abaixo-assinado on an online petition demanding judicial intervention at the club. Alongside Monday’s rally, the collective plans a second demonstration on a business day directly in front of the MP-SP headquarters to deliver the collected signatures and press for official action.

R7 Esportes reported that the São Paulo State Public Ministry has entered the final phase of its investigation into the administration of Corinthians and is currently compiling elements that could sustain a formal request for judicial intervention. Prosecutors Luiz Ambra Neto and André Pascoal have accumulated over 10 testimonies and roughly três mil páginas of procedural records since the inquiry gained momentum in May. Prosecutor Silvio Antônio Marques recently joined the investigative team given the sheer volume and complexity of the material.
SportBuzz noted that the probe divides its focus into three primary fronts: the club’s financial standing, featuring an estimated debt of approximately R$ 2.8 billion; the political and administrative structure governing the institution; and specific acts or contracts suspected of causing financial harm. Prosecutors are actively evaluating whether the current internal structure of Corinthians possesses the institutional capacity to correct ongoing irregularities, handle the financial crisis, and safeguard its social purpose as a traditional sports association.
Corporate Credit Card Scrutiny And Legal Hurdles
As the investigation reaches its closing stages, specific management practices have drawn direct scrutiny from prosecutors. Blog do Paulinho reported that Roberto Gavioli, the former superintendent of finances at Corinthians, gave a videotaped deposition exceeding 45 minutes to the MP-SP. Gavioli stated that his department did not conduct detailed checks on expenditures recorded on the presidential corporate credit cards, limiting its role to basic bookkeeping without questioning individual items.

That defense failed to satisfy the MP-SP, which subsequently named Gavioli among the accused parties allegedly involved in diverting funds from the club. Court officers subsequently faced documented difficulties locating Gavioli to deliver formal legal notices. A recent process server report filed with the court stated that multiple visits to a Brooklin Paulista address in São Paulo yielded no personal contact, prompting the officer to leave copies of the summons with building reception staff.
Election Timeline And Potential Legal Roadblocks
The looming deadline of the club’s presidential and Deliberative Council elections on Nov. 28 adds immediate urgency to the judicial and public pressure. Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of the Deliberative Council, acknowledged that an eventual judicial intervention order could block the election from taking place as scheduled. Tuma previously suggested that Osmar Stabile engage directly with the Public Ministry to negotiate a Terms of Conduct Adjustment (TAC) in an effort to establish corrective measures and avert state intervention, though no such meeting has taken place.

Legal experts note that a judicial intervention serves as an exceptional protective measure rather than a dissolution of leadership or a preemptive ruling of guilt. Under Brazilian law, if a judge finds sufficient grounds in an MP-SP civil public action, the court can suspend part or all of the current board’s authority and appoint a temporary administrator. This interim manager receives power to review existing contracts, reorganize internal workflows, and restore financial transparency while the broader investigation proceeds. The removed board retains the right to present a formal defense, and the interventor remains in office only until the judiciary verifies that proper governance conditions have been restored.
