Colonel Nguyen Thanh Truc Opens 20th Army Corps Sports Festival

Nearly 500 athletes and coaches gathered for the opening ceremony of the 20th Army Corps sports and physical education tournament, bringing together personnel from 47 agencies, units, and enterprises within the military system. The participants represent roughly 8,000 cadre members, employees, and workers belonging to the 20th Army Corps.

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Truc delivered the opening remarks at the ceremony, where the organizing committee presented commemorative flags to the participating teams. In his address, Colonel Truc noted that sports and physical education have consistently received guidance and attention from the party committee, the 20th Army Corps command, and unit leaders alongside military training and regular business operations.

Colonel Truc emphasized that the multi-day tournament serves as both a competitive arena and a celebration of camaraderie and team spirit. He stated that the event creates an opportunity for different agencies and units to interact, learn from one another, strengthen solidarity, build a healthy culture, and foster a competitive drive among personnel.

Four Sports and Nine Events Scheduled Through October 4

Competition spans across four distinct sports comprising nine individual and team medal events. The schedule features pickleball (men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles), badminton (men’s doubles and mixed doubles), table tennis (men’s singles and men’s doubles), and tennis (men’s singles and men’s doubles).

Action began immediately following the conclusion of the opening ceremony, drawing large crowds of spectators and supporters to the venue. The sports festival is scheduled to run through October 4.
