Clío Bárcenas se encuentra en Alemania para mejorar su juego y lograr su boleto a los Juegos Olímpicos de Los Ángeles 2028, informó PorEsto. The Cancún-born table tennis player, who won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games, shifted her focus to full-time training abroad after finishing her university degree.
Training in Germany and Upcoming Pan American Goals
The European training block runs until December 20, after which she plans to enter World Table Tennis (WTT) events to improve her world ranking. She currently sits inside the top 200 globally and aims to climb higher ahead of the 2027 Olympic qualifying window.
Before returning to WTT action, Bárcenas will travel to Lima, Peru, for the Pan American Championships. Reflecting on her ambitions for the tournament via telephone from Germany, Bárcenas stated that she is looking to improve upon her previous results. At the continental competition last year, she secured a silver medal and now aims to convert that finish into gold, or target a top-16 placement.

Building on Central American Success
The transition to full-time table tennis follows a successful medal haul at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Bárcenas earned silver in the women’s team event, added another silver in mixed doubles alongside Marcos Madrid, claimed gold in women’s doubles with Arantza Cossio, and took bronze in the individual championship.
Until recently, Bárcenas balanced her athletic career with university studies in gastronomy, splitting her time evenly between academics and table tennis. With her degree now complete, she has dedicated herself entirely to the sport. Being a regional subchampion has elevated her competitive level, she noted, increasing her confidence as she prepares for the 2027 qualification events for Los Angeles 2028.
