The 2026 “City and Camp” National Judo City Circuit Finals and the National Dojo and Club Judo Championships opened on October 5 at the Le-Dynamic Jiangnan Sports Center in Nanan District, marking the first time Chongqing has hosted the finals stage of the national series.
Chongqing Hosts Consecutive National Judo Stages
As a prominent mass judo tournament intellectual property created by the Chinese Judo Association, the “City and Camp” circuit featured six preliminary legs this year across Chengdu, Beijing, Tianjin, Changsha, Sihui, and Chongqing. The Chongqing preliminary leg served as the final qualifying event on October 3 and 4, immediately preceding the national finals held at the same venue from October 5 to October 6.
A total of 472 athletes representing 65 teams gathered in Nanan District for the back-to-back tournaments. The competition schedule spans nine age groups and encompasses three core disciplines: individual events, team competitions, and optional judo kata demonstrations. Participants range from six-year-old youth competitors to adult elites, positioning the tournament as one of the largest and highest-level mass judo events nationwide.
Local Organizers and Competitors Anchor the Event
Nanan District authorities coordinated venue operations, medical services, security, and traffic management to support the four-day schedule. Event organizers deployed dedicated medical stations with emergency equipment inside the venue and established multi-scenario emergency protocols aligned with guidelines from the General Administration of Sport of China.

Local athletes representing district sports schools, primary and secondary schools, and private clubs participated across both the preliminary and final rounds. Several Chongqing-based competitors secured qualification spots during the preliminary leg on home soil to advance into the national championship bracket.
Sport Infrastructure Development in Nanan District
District officials have continued to host national and municipal sports events in recent years to expand athletic infrastructure and integrate sports with local tourism and consumer markets. Hosting both the final preliminary stage and the national finals provides local practitioners with direct access to elite competition while supporting youth athletic development.
Competition action concludes on October 6 with the final bouts and medal ceremonies, where overall annual champions will be crowned across all weight classes.
